San Jose Dentistry Has Changed for the Better

Remember when you were a kid and you’d go to the dentist to have him check for cavities? You’d walk into that dark waiting room with your mom and sit restlessly while she and the woman at the desk talked about how this one had died and that one got married and this one shouldn’t be mentioned, all scary conversation made even more surreal by the smell of lavender that was always all around you.

When you finally got out of the waiting room, which took seemingly forever, you were sat down in a high back plastic chair with an assortment of metal instruments in your face that looked like the torture robot from Star Wars. The hygienist, who always wanted to talk to you while she was cleaning your teeth, would clean all that plaque away and then the dentist would come in and stick a metal pick into your teeth and gums, telling you how you needed to brush and floss better to avoid what looked like a disaster in your mouth.

The cavities would get filled with metal fillings and you’d be swollen for a few days, terrified to not brush and equally terrified of going back to the dentist and feeling his cold hands and sharp pick in your mouth again. No wonder we all grew up afraid of the dentist. What exactly were they thinking back then? Was it a dental “scared straight” program that we went through as children?

San Jose Dentistry, and dentistry around the country, has changed for the better. Our San Jose family dental office is bright and airy, our attendants are cheery and the wait is never long. The doctor doesn’t scare your children and we don’t use Darth Vader torture robots. Our examination rooms are all modern technology and computer screens where you can see exactly what the inside of your mouth looks like.

And about that lavender smell, you’ll never catch a whiff of that stuff in our office. I don’t know what the deal was with that either but pretty much every patient I’ve ever talked to about childhood dentist experiences remembers it being present. I wonder what the kids today will remember about the dentist when they’re our age? It won’t be a fearful memory. I promise you that.

What do you look for in a dentist San Jose?

When you get that small discomfort or major pain in one of your teeth, what do you look for in a dentist? What kind of expectations do you have when you first walk through the door of a San Jose family dentist office? There are no doubt going to be some fears present and more than a few questions that you’ll want answered. Here are some of the most common reactions and inquiries we’ve seen over the years.

The first concern is always cost. A lot of people never go to the dentist because they think it will cost them far more than they can afford. It’s amazing how many folks will suffer in pain instead of asking how much it will cost to fix the problem. With the technology and procedures used today it’s actually much more affordable to get dental work done now than it has been in the past.

Another question that new patients often ask is about the difference between a San Jose family dentist and a San Jose cosmetic dentist. Dr. Fong actually advertises himself as both and many who have not been to the dentist in a while are confused by that. The words “cosmetic dentistry” set off alarm bells for those concerned about keeping costs down. They don’t realize that the cosmetic dentistry that was once really expensive is now affordable and available to the entire family.

Pain is also a concern for those visiting the dentist after a long absence. No one likes to be in pain and modern technology has made going in for dental care a less painful process. Most procedures are completely pain free and when Dr. Fong does cosmetic dentistry like crowns and veneers there is very little drilling involved. This also means that there is a limited use of numbing agents, a concern for many patients who prefer as little drug use as possible.

If your fears have kept you away for a while, now is the time to come back. It will cost you less and some of the solutions available now didn’t exist just a few short years ago. Don’t assume that you know what the outcome of a dentist visit will be. You could end up walking out of our office with a brand new smile and some new teeth on just the first visit. That didn’t happen five years ago. It does now.

If you’re looking to regain that bright white smile or maybe get it for the very first time then you should try Cerinate Lumineers from San Jose Dentist Dr. Fong. These light weight porcelain veneers can be placed on your teeth without drilling or damaging the existing bone structure in any way and they are completely reversible.

Only about five percent of the dentists in the United States have the technology and experience to work with lumineers the way that Dr. Fong does. Many still use the older methods which require painful drilling and tedious reconstruction that could take a number of visits to the dentist office. You can get the same result without the discomfort in just one or two sessions with lumineers San Jose dentist Dr. Andrew Fong.

If you watch characters on television and wish that you could have that smile that they have you can stop dreaming about it and finally get it done. What was once difficult and cost prohibitive is now relatively easy and affordable for all. If you’re looking for Cerinate Lumineers in San Jose then you have come to the right place. The staff and Dr. Fong himself know how to get you smiling ear to ear in no time.

Why don’t more dentists use lumineers? Often established dentists have long term relationships with dental factories that give them good deals on specific products. As a San Jose family dentist, Dr. Fong will never give you limited options based on the economics of the supply chain. We offer diverse options so that each patient can choose the type of cosmetic dentistry they feel comfortable with.

Another reason why San Jose cosmetic dentists sometimes don’t use lumineers is because many of them simply don’t know how. This is new technology that requires steady hands and an eye for detail. Those dentists who are used to working with more cumbersome tools and drilling to get a foot hold for crowns and thicker porcelain finishes don’t feel comfortable working with the thinner and more flexible lumineers. Dr. Fong doesn’t have that problem. He’ll use lumineers to give you that white and lasting smile you’ve always wanted.

Cerec Dentistry in San Jose and How it Has Changed Cosmetic Dentistry

October 10th, 2009 by dentist_san_jose in Uncategorized

If you haven’t been to the dentist in a couple of years, then you may not be familiar with the term “Cerec dentistry”. In San Jose, Cerec dentistry has revolutionized the cosmetic dental industry and is offering more and better solutions for patients at family practices everywhere. The difference between what used to be done to fix damaged and missing teeth and what is done now is like night and day. Technology has improved dramatically in just the past few years so now is the time to go back to the dentist.

Cerec is a tough porcelain that is used to manufacture crowns and even to create new artificial teeth which can be used as fill-ins while you’re waiting on an implant or as a replacement for less reliable and often breakable flip-in plates or dentures. It is harder, longer lasting, and more natural looking to an outside observer. It also feels more natural and allows the patient to do more with their teeth than you can with a plate or partial denture.

Finding a Cerec dentist in San Jose is a difficult process so if you have an interest in exploring Cerec solutions for your teeth you should just click over to our main website. Cerec dentistry is an art and only progressive dentists have mastered the many ways that art can be used to create a beautiful smile for every patient. The days of nasty impressions and multiple visits to the dentist are quickly becoming a tradition of the past. Many Cerec dental solutions can be applied on the first visit and are fully covered by your insurance.

Using Cerec, a San Jose cosmetic dentist can preserve the maximum portion of the original tooth structure as possible. The amount of grinding and drilling required for Cerec crowns or fillings is far less than it would be with the old-fashioned metal alternatives. Cerec is an industrial strength ceramic that is made without micro spaces, the closest manufactured substitute for your own original enamel rods. This allows the dentist to create a strong and often permanent solution to your dental problem which was not available up until just a few years ago.
