Dentistry has changed dramatically in the past few years thanks to technology innovations, however the new technology is  still only being used by five to ten percent of San Jose family dentists. Those that do utilize this new technology are mainly San Jose cosmetic dentists that do implants, veneers, and dentures. All of these procedures have changed as a result of the new technology.

If you’re planning on going to a dentist and feel that you may be looking at some fairly major work, then you want to make sure that the dentist you choose is one that does pain free procedures that require fewer visits. The pain free part is where the new technology comes in. Many of the processes used by dentists now don’t require drilling or even numbing before being applied.

Another area where modern technology has changed the field dramatically is with the San Jose cosmetic dentists. The use of lamineers and veneers has eliminated the need for the clumsier and heavy porcelain crowns that used to be a dentist’s only option. The new material being used is strong but thinner and more flexible to work with. A good San Jose cosmetic dentist can recreate teeth using the materials he now has at his disposal. In some instances this can replace the use of flip-in plates and partial dentures.

The rebuilding of a smile or in some cases the creation of one that was never there before is easier to do now than it has ever been. The use of cameras, new porcelain mixes, and less corrosive cements makes the repair and recreation of teeth a more fun and exciting task for dentists. Many, like Dr. Fong, are discovering their artistic side as they find new ways to shape and mold with these new materials.

If you haven’t been to the dentist in a while and are still having nightmares from childhood about drilling and painful gum scrapings, you might want to give the dentist another try. Things have changed for the better in recent years. You might even enjoy going to the dentist for the first time in your life.
