What do you look for in a dentist San Jose?
When you get that small discomfort or major pain in one of your teeth, what do you look for in a dentist? What kind of expectations do you have when you first walk through the door of a San Jose family dentist office? There are no doubt going to be some fears present and more than a few questions that you’ll want answered. Here are some of the most common reactions and inquiries we’ve seen over the years.
The first concern is always cost. A lot of people never go to the dentist because they think it will cost them far more than they can afford. It’s amazing how many folks will suffer in pain instead of asking how much it will cost to fix the problem. With the technology and procedures used today it’s actually much more affordable to get dental work done now than it has been in the past.
Another question that new patients often ask is about the difference between a San Jose family dentist and a San Jose cosmetic dentist. Dr. Fong actually advertises himself as both and many who have not been to the dentist in a while are confused by that. The words “cosmetic dentistry” set off alarm bells for those concerned about keeping costs down. They don’t realize that the cosmetic dentistry that was once really expensive is now affordable and available to the entire family.
Pain is also a concern for those visiting the dentist after a long absence. No one likes to be in pain and modern technology has made going in for dental care a less painful process. Most procedures are completely pain free and when Dr. Fong does cosmetic dentistry like crowns and veneers there is very little drilling involved. This also means that there is a limited use of numbing agents, a concern for many patients who prefer as little drug use as possible.
If your fears have kept you away for a while, now is the time to come back. It will cost you less and some of the solutions available now didn’t exist just a few short years ago. Don’t assume that you know what the outcome of a dentist visit will be. You could end up walking out of our office with a brand new smile and some new teeth on just the first visit. That didn’t happen five years ago. It does now.
